What are our clients getting from attending our Workshops?
At Innisfree Therapy we believe psycho-education plays an important element supporting clients gain awareness and understanding, regarding the complex dynamics of compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (CSBD) and sex addiction.
It is paramount to not only identify and treat the behaviours which cause harm to self and others, but also the underlying causes such as: distorted attachments, trauma, depression and anxiety.
The workshops were developed in response to specific, identified client needs and requests for more information and the lack of specialist psycho-education in the field of CSBD treatment.
We all learn in different ways therefore the workshops adapt and respond to suit learning styles.
Each week we cover different topics and work closely with the clients to ensure the workshops are tailored to meet the client’s treatment needs at any given time.
The aim of the workshops is to provide a safe, therapeutic space for active learning and education.
The workshops are designed to support and develop components of our recovery such as:
- The neuroscience of addiction
- Partners and family – can my relationship survive?
- Couples in trauma – surviving discovery/disclosure
- High risk situations and relapse prevention
- Attachment and betrayal
- CSBD v Sex Addiction – what’s the difference?
- The dangers of the internet – boundary violation
- Women and CSBD
- Why group therapy?
- Sexual health – Can I ever have a ‘normal’ relationship with sex and what would that look like?
Clients attending the workshops have reported an increased understanding of the cause and effect of their behaviours alongside an opportunity to ask questions and to receive identification and support from peers.
The workshops take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 13.00-14.15 and are designed to fully integrate client learning.
